Trailhead Biosystems exhibited at SLAS2026 in Boston this past month, connecting with innovators, automation leaders and researchers pushing the boundaries of possibilities in modern life sciences. The SLAS International Conference & Exhibition continues to be an amazing conference for lab automation, advanced screening and next‑generation discovery technologies.

This year’s theme, “where inspiration gains momentum,” focused on accelerating discovery. This topic aligns directly with Trailhead’s mission to enable faster, data‑driven biology. So naturally, we were excited to showcase how we can help researchers turn inspiration into action.

Additionally, a number of technologies at SLAS2026 directly align with Trailhead’s mission of making complex human biology more accessible, scalable and reproducible through iPSC-derived solutions.

Trailhead’s Perspective: Why Better Biology Matters More Than Ever

Across conversations at our booth (#1844), one theme consistently emerged: labs are looking for ways to compress timelines without sacrificing biological relevance. While automation and analytics continue to rapidly advance, the industry still needs high‑quality, human‑relevant cell models that can support them. A recurring constraint we heard was not automation capacity, but upstream biology. Many groups have invested heavily in liquid handling and analytics, yet still struggle with variability in primary cells or inconsistent differentiation protocols that limit reproducibility at scale.

That’s exactly where TrailBio cells shine.

Consider our custom differentiated HPCs, including differentiation from patient-derived or disease-model iPSCs.This process leverages our proprietary HD-DoE® platform to derive and optimize HPC differentiation , dramatically decreases project timelines while enabling robust modeling of disease phenotypes compared to conventional OPTIMIZATION of differentiation protocols. This service-based solution resonated strongly with many visiting conference attendees seeking to accelerate their screening, immunology workflows and cell‑based assay development. For teams looking for an off-the-shelf starting point, our TrailBio® Hematopoietic Progenitor Cells are available as a standardized, ready-to-use product.

Specifically, the majority of the researchers we talked to were excited about:

  • The ability to differentiate customer‑specific iPSC lines for disease‑relevant or genetically defined models
  • Our upcoming neuronal products
  • Robust validation and QC packages suited for high‑throughput labs, automation‑integrated systems and translational biology pipelines
  • Consistent, reproducible outputs that align with the high‑precision automated platforms showcased throughout the exhibition
  • Third-party validation data confirming the ability of our TrailBio® HPCs to differentiate into iPSC-derived microglia.

“SLAS continues to be an excellent show for the industry, and it was great to be there talking to researchers about their need for quality differentiated cells in their in vitro assays.” said Peter Udall, Senior Business Development Manager at Trailhead

As SLAS2026 made clear, discovery teams are moving toward integrated, automated and data‑driven R&D ecosystems. With that, the foundation of those systems is biologically relevant, reliable and scalable cell models. Trailhead Biosystems is proud to support that future with high-quality iPSC-derived cells and custom services designed to accelerate discovery without compromise.

Looking Ahead

SLAS2026 highlighted the momentum our industry is building around advanced automation, precision biology and accelerated discovery cycles. We are even more excited about this year ahead based on the conversations we had and the partnerships we’re forming as researchers recognize the power of high‑quality differentiated human iPSC cells in driving more predictive, high‑throughput science.

We are incredibly grateful for our experiences at SLAS. If we missed you, we’d love to still chat and discuss your work. Reach out to us at sales@trialbio.com or explore our iPSC-derived cell lines or custom cell differentiation capabilities on our website.
