TrailBio® ISX-9

$160.00

Small molecule for neuronal differentiation and cell conversion

  • Induces neuronal differentiation of cultured neural stem and progenitor cells.
  • Functions through the MEF2 pathway.
  • Used in small-molecule cocktails, where it activates neuron-specific genes that convert fibroblasts into neurons.

Supporting Publications

Petrik et al. (2012), FASEB J

  • Shows ISX-9 promotes hippocampal neurogenesis and improves memory in mice, and that knocking out the brain-enriched Mef2 isoforms (Mef2a/c/d) in neural stem cells abolishes the effect.

Li et al. (2015), Cell Stem Cell

  • Converted mouse fibroblasts into neuronal cells with a small-molecule cocktail (>90% TUJ1-positive after 16 days), where I-BET151 disrupted the fibroblast program and ISX9 was necessary to activate neuron-specific genes.

Koh et al. (2015), PLoS One

  • Shows ISX-9 slightly increased neural stem/progenitor cell numbers and effectively induced their neuronal differentiation, while decreasing oligodendrocyte precursor cell numbers.
